For his upcoming movie, The Fighter, Mark Wahlberg Utilized Boxing to Get In Phenomenal Shape

Since he was a Calvin Klein model, Mark Wahlberg has been in awesome shape. His passion to stay in shape stems from his childhood where he would workout at the gym to stay away from trouble on the streets. Mark trained for 2 years for his most recent movie, The Fighter.

Mark Wahlberg's General Training Approach: Exercise at High Intensity
Mark enjoys training 5 days a week for 30 minutes per session. He picks a number of different body parts and focuses on performing a HIIT workout routine. He never does cardio or abdominal work. It demonstrates that outstanding abs aren't the consequence of countless crunches or endless hours of cardiovascular exercise. Mark does not believe in hiring a personal trainer either.

Mark will throw in specific exercises for a movie as necessary. For example, he played hockey 2 hours per day in getting ready for Four Brothers. For The Fighter, Mark has added boxing to his routine for the past 2+ years.

Mark Wahlbergl's Workout for The Fighter
To prepare for The Fighter, Mark built his own gym with a boxing ring as a way to prepare. His workout routines are always high intensity. When he's not filming a movie, he's not afraid to exchange blows and show up with a black eye.

Mark's program includes a boxing and lifting portion:

Warm-up: Jump Rope, Squats
5 Minutes on Speed Bag, Double Bag, Heavy Bag
Mitt work
Sparring
This boxing segment totals 45 minutes.

Mark immediately does strength training afterward. Mark performs all his exercises wearing a 35lb weighted vest. He focuses on supersets. Supersets are when you complete one exercise and immediately execute another while your muscles from the first exercise rest.
Monday: Legs, Biceps, Back
Tuesday: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps
Wednesday: Legs, Biceps
Rest and repeat on Saturday
